Home made natural Aloe Vera gel

Summer is here and I love this cooling and refreshing aloe gel home remedy. This multipurpose gel assists to cool the skin on a hot summers day as well as treat mild sunburn, kitchen burns and scratches.

INGREDIENTS

+ Aloe Vera Plant (Aloe vera barbadensis)

EQUIPTMENT

+Vegetable Peeler
+Glass Jar
+Sharp Knife
+Cotton Pads
+Essential Oils
+Teaspoon

METHOD

+Cut two to three large leaves of your aloe plant.  Make sure you don’t cut to close to the bottom of the plant, as this part is very bitter.

+Peel one side of the aloe skin with a vegetable peeler.

+ Using a teaspoon, gently scrape out the clear gel and place in a small bowl.

+Using a small stick blender, blend the gel until it looks like frothy egg whites.

+ For additional healing benefits add three to four drops of essential oil. (Avoid eye area) I like Lavender  (Lavandula angustifolia) as it has soothing, cooling and antiseptic benefits.

+Place in a glass jar, cover, and store in your fridge for up to two weeks.

*Beauty Tip

If your not managing to get a lot of sleep (like me, with a little one :)) This DIY eye mask is great to soothe tired and puffy eyes. If you suffer from allergies, this gel also works a treat to soothe and stop the itch. Just be careful not to get any gel in your eye and don’t add any essential oils to the gel- let nature work its magic.

DIY ALOE SOOTHING TREATMENT

Soak cotton pads in the gel- just enough so the entire cotton pad is coated, but not soaking wet. They should be cool enough if the jar has been stored in the fridge- if not place in the fridge to cool and cover- or make a few and store in a container and place in fridge.

Lie down somewhere quite and comfortable and listen to the beauty of nature.
